Sunday Vibes with Grocery Shopping

Sunday Errands, Sweet Friendship & a Little Easter Weekend Reality Check

There’s something about Easter weekend that just feels full—full of plans, full of people, and apparently… full of grocery stores too. This Sunday, my best friend Cherrie and I set out with a simple goal: get the grocery shopping done before my upcoming trip on April 14th. It felt like the one open window in an otherwise busy schedule, and I was determined to make the most of it.

We pulled out of my driveway a little after 10 a.m., both of us thinking we had this day figured out. In my mind, I had already planned a little bonus fun—maybe a quick stroll through TJ Maxx, Ross, and Burlington before tackling the grocery list. Just a little browsing, nothing too serious. But Easter weekend had other plans for us because, surprise…they were all closed! Honestly though, I wasn’t even mad. Sometimes those little unexpected detours just make the day feel more relaxed.

So we shifted gears and made our first stop at Dollar Tree, right there by the stores we couldn’t get into anyway. And let me tell you, that stop was a win. I found exactly what I needed—travel-sized Monday shampoo and conditioner (perfect for my trip!) and even grabbed some coconut oil. It’s funny how the smallest finds can feel like a victory.

Of course, no good outing starts without coffee. Earlier on our drive to Norman, we made a stop at Scooter’s and picked up two iced coffees that absolutely hit the spot. There’s just something about sipping coffee, chatting, and cruising down the road with your best friend that sets the tone for the whole day.

By then, we were ready for lunch. We first thought about stopping at the Golden Corral, but y’all…when I say it was packed, I mean standing room only with a line out the door. That was our cue to pivot. We ended up at Chili’s in Norman, which seemed like a safe, easy choice at the time.

Now, I’m just going to be honest here—this was probably the low point of the day. The wait for our food was longer than expected, and while I tried to give them a little grace because it was Easter weekend, they honestly weren’t that busy. The food itself was just okay. Not terrible, but definitely not something I’d go out of my way for again. Maybe my tastes are changing, or maybe I’m just more mindful about what I’m eating these days as I work on healthier habits. Either way, it just didn’t quite hit like I hoped it would.

But thankfully, the day picked back up right after that.

We made our way over to Crest Foods (just across the street) and got started on the main mission: groceries. We hit the aisles around 1:45 p.m. and were done by 3:20 p.m., which honestly felt like a win. We worked through the list, stayed focused, and got almost everything I needed for the week and for an upcoming cookout when Luther gets the grill going.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a grocery trip without forgetting a few things. No hot pork rinds (which was disappointing), and I completely forgot the hamburger and hot dog buns. But that’s okay—those are easy pickups later this week.

By the time I got home, unloaded the car, and put everything away, I was more than ready to sit down and relax. And that’s exactly what I did.

Looking back, it really was a good, productive Sunday. Not everything went according to plan, but honestly, that didn’t matter. The best part of the whole day wasn’t the shopping or even checking things off my list—it was the time spent with Sherrie. Sometimes you just need to get out of the house, change your scenery, laugh a little, and enjoy good company.

Those are the moments that stick with you.

Sunday Funday with Cherrie

                                                           Weekend Vibes ✨

This weekend I called Cherrie to see if she wanted to take a little trip with me to Norman, Oklahoma. It was time to stock our pantry for January, and I always enjoy having company on a grocery run. Of course, no trip like this is just about groceries—we had a little shopping and lunch planned too.

Our first stop was Ross Dress for Less. I was on the hunt for a new shower curtain for the bathroom, and while I was there, I went ahead and picked up a few new towels and washcloths. I also found a really cute shower caddy that hangs right on the showerhead. I decided I’ll add a 4-piece bathroom accessory set later to tie everything together.

I chose a dark blue shower curtain, which is way outside my normal comfort zone. I usually lean toward seashells or dolphins, so I’m not sure why my taste seems to be shifting—but I kind of like it. While there, I also picked up some white ankle socks for Mr. C. He’s been wanting shorter socks, so that was an easy win.

Next, we stopped at Burlington. Surprisingly, I didn’t buy a single thing. That doesn’t usually happen there, but sometimes it’s nice to walk out empty-handed.

A trip to Norman wouldn’t be complete without stopping at Barnes & Noble. I browsed through the paranormal book section and flipped through Flow magazine for junk journaling inspiration. Nothing really jumped out at me, so I left without a purchase—and that’s okay too.

For lunch, we headed to Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar for cheeseburgers and fries. It was just as good as the first time we ate there. I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere—it’s a great place to slow down and visit.

After lunch, we finally made our way across the street to Crest Foods. I usually spend close to two hours grocery shopping since I buy for the entire month. I use the AnyList app and print my list by sections, which helps keep me organized and on track. I’ve really enjoyed using this system.

Once we finally checked out, we headed toward home. I was extremely thirsty and decided I needed a stop at Sonic Drive‑In. Lately my favorite drink has been a Diet Coke with cherry and vanilla—it was so refreshing.

Our last stop was at McDonald’s on the tollway to pick up dinner for Mr. C. He always enjoys a Quarter Pounder.

Once we were home, we put all the groceries away and settled in for dinner. I was definitely tired, but it felt so good to have this big chore done for the month. There’s just something comforting about a full pantry and a well-stocked chest freezer.

Weekend accomplished 💙

Grocery Day at Crest Grocery Store

A Productive Grocery Day at Crest

This morning, Mr. C and I finally decided it was time to sit down and make out our monthly grocery shopping list. No putting it off, no guessing — just getting it done. We briefly talked about placing a Walmart pickup order, but I always come back to the same thought: I feel like I can stretch our grocery budget further when I shop at Crest. Their discounts and savings consistently allow me to bring home more food for our money, and that matters.

I left the house fairly early and headed into Chickasha first, treating myself to a yogurt bowl and a smoothie to fuel the drive up to Norman. I considered stopping at TJ Maxx to do a little last-minute Christmas shopping, but one look at the packed parking lot told me everything I needed to know. I decided to skip the crowds and head straight to Crest instead.

Once inside the store, I quickly realized things had changed — a lot. Since my last trip, the layout had been almost completely rearranged. I found myself starting in aisles I normally save for the end, grabbing our case of water and soda right away. It threw off my usual routine, but thankfully I had my list in hand and checked items off as I went. That list was my saving grace.

There were a couple of things I didn’t pick up this time around, so I made sure to keep those items noted separately for a grocery pickup order later in the week. With everything checked off and loaded up, I headed back home. Normally I stop for a drink on the way, but I still had most of my smoothie with me, so I kept going.

I pulled into the driveway around 1:30, and Mr. C helped unload the Jeep while I started putting everything away. I made a quick stop at McDonald’s on the turnpike for a late lunch, and after eating, we settled in to watch Sheriff’s Country, visit for a bit, and enjoy a quiet afternoon. I wrapped things up by working on a couple of blog posts — a simple, productive ending to a busy but successful grocery day.

Sometimes it’s the ordinary days that feel the most satisfying.
