Weekend fishing

Wearing my cute 4th of July tank top.  It’s lightweight and will help my arms get a little sun.

Am enjoying my new fishing rod Luther bought me!

Fishing at 5:35 am? Check. Mild weather? Check. Extreme heat advisory by 11 am? Uh check. I guess that’s one way to make things interesting. On the bright side, my casting skills are getting less cringy by the day, but still a long way from pro status.
We only seen one large snake swimming by the bank.  I said a little prayer  to keep me protected.  At this point I am use to seeing snakes at Lake Taylor. They tend to leave me alone but you better believe I keep an eye on the sneaky snakes.  Don’t want a snake trying to bite my ankle.

Shelves from Temu

I seen these cute shelves on Temu for a good price so bought two of them.  Wasn’t expecting that we would have to assemble them. At work I like to change out how my cubicle looks every couple of months.   I definitely decorate for major holidays.

Mr. C.  isn’t happy with putting this inexpensive shelf together.   Trust me when I say save yourself the hassle and buy shelves already put together.  It wasn’t fun trying to figure out how the pieces went.  Finally the mister got both of them completed.  Was a long hour of figuring out the pieces of the shelves.

This will be perfect for some of my pens, markers, colored pencils and highlighters.  Then I can see what I have instead of going thru different things trying to find what I need.  Should make my life easier.
If I need any more shelves they will be brought put together.  No matter what, we are definitely not ones who look at pictures and put something together.  Especially when directions have little or no words.  Just save yourself the aggravation!

Day off!

Today I had off due to Juneteenth.  I had been wanting to clean my Jeep for several weeks.  I called up my middle son and he met me at Marlow at the car wash.  Aaron always does a great job when he cleans my Jeep.  I tried to help but I was getting in his way.

Aaron doesn’t like his picture being taken at all.

Am so proud he helped me.  We was at car wash for over a hour.  We did visit afterwords, talked about everything it seemed.
I stopped at the grocery store and got a cucumber, green pepper and grapes.  Had decided I was making a pasta salad.  Will take it to work the next 2 days.  I put in it zucchini, squash, cucumber, grape tomatoes, cheddar cheese cubes and a can of whole corn.  Salt and pepper as well.  Normally I wouldn’t use squash or zucchini but had it in refrigerator and needed to get it used before it turned bad.
Afterwards I cleaned kitchen and washed dishes and wiped down countertops.  Then I swept the floor.  Felt like I was being productive today.
I finally finished my letter to Faith so I can get her letter in mail tomorrow. Need to get four letters wrote so I do not get behind on my pen pal letters.  Getting happy mail is something that brings joy to my life.

Blake and Jessica’s family 2024

Brooks is such a boy.  He loves being active especially outside.  Loves digging in the dirt with his construction toys.  Loves to be on the tractor or on the cam am or 4 wheelers.

Hattie is precious and a sweet baby girl.  She does her best to keep up with Brooks.  Love watching her play with her baby dolls.  She also likes playing outside on the play set or in the dirt.

Logan is a teenager so he stays to himself a lot. Either on his game system or reading a good book.  Logan is smart and well liked by everyone.

Such a super sweet picture of my grandchildren.  Am so proud that Jessica makes sure to do family pictures several time a year.

Shadow Dancer Cabin

The Shadow Dancer Cabin was very nice. Had everything you would need for vacation.

The wrap around porch was nice.  Lane and I enjoyed walking around the porch, of course he thought we were playing follow the leader.

Am thinking I am going to have to get us a gas grill.  When we grilled out the food was so good.

Me and hubbie enjoyed the hot tub.  He later told me he had never been in a hot tub!

The outside sitting area was probably my favorite area of the cabin.

This is our bedroom we chose for the stay.  The bed was good.  I had no issues sleeping.  Am so happy that I can finally say I have stayed in a cabin at Broken Bow.  That has been on my bucket list for years.

Vacation over and back to real life

Unpacking from a trip is such a downer.  We did unpack the Jeep last night.put away most everything.  Then this morning finished with all the small items.  Found all my small souvenir items and realized I should have bought more.  For me that always seems to be how it goes.  I bought a bright pink T-shirt and can’t wait to wear it.

My bottle of wine from Girls Gone Wine.  The Beavers Bend is the name of the wine I bought.
Anyways back to unpacking it’s always a little sad to return back to real life.
It felt like we took way too  much stuff especially when we are having to put everything away.
We had a full washer once we unpacked our suitcases.  Had quite a bit of groceries that Brody needs to come pick as well. Got our fishing poles, tackle boxes and chairs back into the shop.  I think the only things left in Jeep is a case of water and some trash from the four hour road trip.

Let’s go fishing!

Why is it I always see a snake or two here at Lake Taylor?  Mr. C. Says there are many snakes out here. Some not poisonous and many that are very dangerous.  Like so many others all snakes are scary to me.  I will not mess with a snake ever.

This was a good spot for me to cast out my line.  If you’ve been following my blog I also have a pink and purple fishing pole.  This is the new pole and reel my sweet husband bought for me.

So glad the wind is moving while we are at the lake.

Mr. C. Caught a large small mouth bass.  He did release it back into the lake. I didn’t have any luck catching a fish today.  Lots of season left to catch the “big” one.  Am looking forward to us being more active outside this summer.
Just remember a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!

Girls Gone Wine Day 3 part 3

Everyone talks about Girl Gone Wine.  I absolutely knew this was on my to do list.  Savannah and I went over after we had a late lunch at Mountain Fork Brewery.  The guys took the boys back to cabin.

We did the free wine tasting.  We tried 9 different wines. My favorite was the Beavers Bend. It was a peach-apricot white wine blend. I have always been more of a white wine drinker on the sweet side.

Was surprised that the wine prices were not expensive.  They even have a bottle of wine that that donate $7.00 from each sale to a scholarship fund.

Just a few pictures of their large gift shop.  They had so much to see in their shop.

Loved all the lotions, soaps and beauty products.

Savannah and I needed a picture of our visit to Girls Gone Wild.  The outside patio is pretty awesome.  I definitely can see making this a highlight of a girls only trip.

Broken Bow Day 3 part 2

Brody and Savannah had been telling us how good the food and beer was at this brewery.  So we decided to eat a late lunch here.

Luther and I both ate the hamburger steak with mushroom gravy, salad and fries. It was really

Very likely if we are back in this area we would eat here again.  Brody had bought some beer back to cabin.  Although I did not try any of the crafted beer.
This post is heavy on pictures.  I must say this trip to Broken Bow has fulfilled my dreams of being here.  Was a great vacation for both Mr. C. and I.

Day 3 Broken Bow

They really like to utilize Big Foot as part of their tourism.

At this particular gift store you will see a portion of the gifts they offer with Big Foot.

Plenty of Big Foot items to choose from featuring Big Foot.  That isn’t my thing at all.

Going to eat breakfast with the family.

I had the western omelette with jalapeños.  It came with potatoes and biscuit and gravy.

I couldn’t eat everything, but sure did attempt it.  Sweet tea was really good.  Mr. C. ate over easy eggs, potatoes & sausage and toast and jelly.

Seems like most stores has outside decorations.

I’m crazy about trains.  We are getting ready to take a 30 minute train ride.

Mr. C. And I on a train again.  Although a much smaller train.  Our last train ride was on the Oklahoma Heartland Train.  We went from Pauls Valley to Fort Worth Texas many years ago.

Loco Joe is our train conductor.  He was very informative about Broken Bow history. He did a great job keeping us entertained.

Getting to see the deer up close was a bonus.  So many deer.  Which we can see lots of deer at our local lake.

Lane was happy on his pony ride. Landon did not enjoy the pony ride as he only went one round.

Okie girls coffee and ice cream.  We shared a banana split.  They are making bank at $12.95 for this treat. A 16 ounce shake was $9.95.  My hubbie was wanting a shake but not at that price.
