Baby Lane

Baby Lane is adorable!  Brody and Savannah are the proud parents of this handsome little guy. Lane looks so much like Brody/  Although I do see his moma in him as well. 

Proud Gramps!  Luther's eyes sure light up every time baby Lane comes to visit us.  I wish  we could see all the grandbabies every single day.  This little man is already growing up so fast! 

Being a grandma is the best feeling in the world.

Mexican Casserole Recipe

This casserole has to be our all time favorite.  It is always a big hit for our children when they come to visit us.  

We tend to make it a little different each and every time we cook it.  I like to add black olives to it as well.  Where Luther likes to add whole corn to his when he makes the casserole. 

I really need to find some new casserole recipes to try on the weekends.  Seems like lately we are eating the same ole things every singe week.  It gets easy to get in a food rut.  Luther and I do have way different taste in food.  So sometimes it is hard to find something we both agree on to try.

Tyler living abroad

My brother is living his best life abroad.  There is no way I could do this bike adventure in the air. Oh my gosh looks fun but I would be so scared.  I would have to pass on this adventure.  

This young man has been a role model for so many in our small community.  

I see Tyler as a brave soul who will do whatever it takes to make his goals.  I am so lucky to call him my brother.  He never stops studying.  For his job he has to learn the language as well as the culture.  I do think Tyler is one of the smartest young men I know personally.

This was my very first baby shower that was a Bbq themed.  The food was great! They had hamburgers and hotdogs, chips and all the fixings for the hamburgers.  All sort of drinks, the sweet tea was so very good.  Then for dessert they had brownies with nuts and with out nuts. I must say they were delish!

I have been around Ryan all his life and was honored to be invited to their shower.

The table setting was cute for a Bbq setting. 

The shower was held in Ada Oklahoma. About 2 hours away from us. We stayed about 3 hours. 2 hours for the shower then we visited with Ryan and others for a hour.  Went with Tammie and Mildred. Was a great Saturday evening!

Daisy sure is looking tired.  I know she  had covid not too long ago.  She is my special cousin who lives in a women's group home.  Mike is her care giver and had done a remarkable job.  He goes and gets her quite a lot to spend time with extended family. 

 

OKC Zoo Day

I hadn't been to the zoo in years.  They have changed everything about the zoo.  I picked up a map but couldn't get it figured out.. Silly me!  I must say I was very impressed with all the changes.  I do know we didn't see everything, but we just ran out of time.

We really enjoyed the Giraffe feeding. Liked how close we was to them. Nothing like being up front with these beauty majestic animals. 

Then the famous selfie from me. It wasn't as hot as I thought it was going to be.  Had a slight overcast off and on during the day.  Which helped this grandma a lot!! 

Now I must make plans to take Aaron's family to the zoo soon! I know Clifford will get a huge kick out of it.

 

Cash envelope system

I started a new budget back in April.  The main reason is I am living beyond my budget.  I make enough money that I should have put some money in savings.  Nope not one red cent. So far this budget has been working for me.  

Last week I bought this Easy Cash Budget Planner.  I really do like it so far.  I went ahead and made up my budget for the month of June.  

So I have cash envelopes for groceries, me, shopping, date night, gas and household.  My groceries for the month get $300.00 a month. Household I stuff with $60.00 for the month.  My spending is usually around $40.00 and shopping is $40.00.  Gas is at $100.00. Date night is $60.00.  

Then on my Sinking funds I have more envelopes.  These include Vacation, Amazon Prime, gifts, Christmas, Medical for copays and etc, furniture, car and Trevor.  I have no set amount that I put in these envelopes.  I just try to put something each week in these envelopes.. My main focus is Vacation and Christmas envelopes. 

I also have saving's envelopes I put some in each pay period.  Saving's that I have envelopes for include $1 challenge and emergency and change. 

I have figured out that I do not need lots of envelopes.  I had ordered several more envelopes and ended taking them out of my binder.  Too many made me feel overwhelmed.  So figured out where I needed my money to go and so far that is working for me.  

Luther and I want to go to Branson Missouri in September.  So my main focus has been Vacation and Christmas and emergency funds.  I feel good with how much I have saved up but Luther thinks we need more money.  I told him the other day I was just going to the bank to borrow the money.  I thought he was going to fall down. He sure didn't like that ideal of getting a loan for fun.

Our major saving's goal is $1000.00 in savings. Don't laugh too hard but all I have so far is $50.00.  I plan on adding to it every payday not matter how long it takes me to get to my goal. The $1 challenge is where I save all my dollar bills that I receive thru the month.  I will probably split it between vacation and emergency savings at the end of August. 

I am really excited about this budget.  It has made me more aware of how much money that I literally throwing out the window.  Lots of random impulse shopping.  

You Tube and Facebook have been my go to on how to apply this budget to my lifestyle. I really do like the Budget Mom on YouTube.
