Footloose Prom Night 2013

Prom Night 2013
Jessica Ross and Aaron Grigsby
Aaron and Jessica had a great time at the Bray~Doyle Prom.  The theme was "FOOTLOOSE'.  The kids had decorated the building up super cute.  Aaron had to have camouflage vest and tie.  If I would have allowed it he would have wore a hunting vest or something similiar. Aaron is such a country boy!
After Prom they went back to the school gym and had the after prom party. Once in you can't leave till 5am.  All thru the night Aaron kept texting me and calling.  So Saturday morning I felt like I had been up all night long..made me tired..lol!

We made this the other day at the flower shop.  It was so very good.  Super easy to make and everyone loves it!  Tonight I am planning on making it at home. I hope it will be a hit for the family.

Here's the recipe

1 can crushed pineapple with juice  (20 oz)

1 box Angel Food Cake Mix

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.  Combine entire can of crushed pineappple with Angel Food mix.  Mimimal stirring is required.  Pour into pan. Bake for 30 ~ 40 minutes.  Frost with sweetened whipping cream if desired.  We ate ours with no icing.  If you haven't tried this yet..why are you waiting?  Get into the kitchen and get this made up tonight!!

Getting ready for Prom

Oh my  goodness! I have been trying to get Aaron's date ready for his prom April 19th and her prom April 26th.  We bought her dress for her prom and it's dark blue with a black overlay on it and way short.  Looks more like a dress for a Christmas dance.  We even found black heels on sale! SCORE! Shopping with a girl is way different than shopping for boys!
For Aaron's prom he is wearing a tux with camouflage vest and tie.  I bought her a cream colored prom dress to wear. Now must find another pair of shoes.. I still need to go buy Aaron a pair of square toe black cowboy boots to wear with his tux.
Here is a picture of a corsage I would like to make for Jessica.  It won't be exactly like this one but similar.

I think this is a super cute corsage. I really like all the bling bling and such in this one. I have bought all supplies to make it already.  Helps that I work at the flower shop!

Wish me luck on getting everything done!!

Trying new things in the kitchen

                                                      Rum Cake

Tonight I want to o some baking and cleaning in the kitchen.  So found a recipe from all recipes for a easy rum cake.
Easy Rum Cake Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1/2 cup dark rum
4 eggs
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix

Glaze
1/2 cup butter
1/8 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup rum

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch tube or Bundt pan. Sprinkle nuts over the bottom of the pan.

2.Mix together the cake mix, 1/2 cup dark rum, eggs, 1/2 cup water, oil, and vanilla pudding mix. Pour batter over the nuts in the pan.

3.Bake for 1 hour. Cool, and invert cake on a serving plate. Prick the top of the cake.

4.To Make The Glaze: Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in 1/8 cup water and the 1/2 cup sugar. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove glaze from heat, and stir in 1/4 cup rum. Drizzle and smooth evenly over the top and sides.

Doesn't this sound awesome?  I still have some rum left over from the rum balls Aaron and I made way back when.  I never knew cooking with alcholic products could be so much fun!!

My cousin Blenda had Ms. Kylie yesterday morning she weighed 8 pounds 6 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.  She is a cutie!! Welcome to our crazy family!!

Tonight I also plan on straightening the house before Mr. C. gets home.  I need to put finishing touches on the craft room as well.  The week he is home I make sure to pick up and clean behind myself..the week he is gone it's like oh I will get to it later and let the house get messy.  I so need to get out of  that mindset!!

Guess I need to get off here and get some work done!  Have a totally awesome day! Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me today!
