Influenza A

I had been battling being sick for several days. Chills, head and body aches, coughing, stuffy nose then having a runny nose. 

I had gone to work knowing I felt sick.  I thought I could handle being sick. No at 9am I told Brandi I had to leave. I grabbed the cart and placed my computers on it and rolled it to my Jeep. We are also expecting snow this week. 

Once in Jeep I called Dr office and Michelle (my cousins wife) told me to call once in parking lot to call to make sure sick room was ready. 

Of course I tested positive for flu A.  I really thought I was just sick, didn’t think about having flu A.

At least I had thought to take a few pictures of the test and such.  

Stopped in store to pick up the over counter medications my doctor advised me to get.  She did tell me with my high blood pressure that NyQuil was a no no.  A little too late but it was what helped me to sleep.  Once I got Delsym cough syrup that’s what I used instead of NyQuil. 

Thankfully I was getting close to the end of being sick.  I’m so ready to be better. I can’t hardly stand up am so weak.

2 pounds of Lego’s

My latest obsession has been obtaining Legos.  I found a man who was selling 2 pounds for $20.00.  He then lowered the price to $15.00.  Made myself wait till Saturday morning to go thru the bag to see what I had bought.  I had got 2 different bags.  I was very pleased with the variety of the colored blocks.  There was even a few pink and purple blocks.  

I have 3 Lego sets I haven’t put together yet.  One is a camper creator set. The other one is a Disney house.  I did just put together a Harry Potter house and the blue car. 

I also joined The Minifig Club. Every month they send out a mystery minifig for $12.99 a month. They also have specials during the week you can buy. You better believe I have bought more than I anticipated.  

I have a Lego head container filled with assorted legos that I also got off Facebook marketplace.  Most ot the Lego pieces are gray and black.  I figured they went with Star Wars themed legos. 

 

Happy New Year 2025

We made a small New Year’s lunch.  We went with a traditional southern meal. It was really good. We did use ham steak since we were only cooking for the two of us.  Black eyed peas and mashed potatoes.  We need all the luck we can get for 2025. 

This year I didn’t make any resolutions. Every year I tend to make the same ones over and over.  This year  I just want to do better in my life overall.  I want to be a better person, wife, mother, grandmother, employee and friend.  I think when I lay that groundwork the rest will fall in place. 

All areas of my life needs improvement.  Self care will be my number one priority.  That covers so many aspects of my life.  Being healthy and happy.  Taking care of myself mentally. Working on budget, planning out my daily,weekly,monthly even year plans and goals.  Spending more time with loved ones. While at work being more mindful of what I need to do to achieve my work goals. 

I want to do more fun activities with family and friends.  I just don’t want to be immobile. Would love to actually incorporate different cultures into my life.  Going to museums, cooking a meal from different cultures, even locating songs from around the world and add to my Spotify. I definitely will attend festivals and fairs that are of different cultures.  

It’s time to learn about the world and open my eyes to new experiences.

I can’t wait to embrace 2025 with love,kindness and compassion. 

 

Christmas celebration with 4 grandchildren

 

Loved the little set up for our lunch.  Made Ham and cheese sliders, chips, veggie platter, meat and cheese platter along with chocolates for dessert, along with fudge. 

My attempt at a wonky Christmas tree.  Kiddos thought it was cool.

Wesley and Angel opening gifts. Wesley loved the Minecraft game, wireless controller for Xbox 1, his 2 hoodies, Minecraft lego set, and the other gifts we got him.

Angel got crochet hook and yarn, cheerleading hoodie,outfit, Friends Lego set, nail polish, nail kit on how to decorate nails, and few more items.

Max running around crazy enjoying being at Nana’s house.

Max got a few light up and sound animals, clothes, music activity book and a few more gifts.

Clifford really enjoyed the gifts we got him.He really liked the toy figure I got him of The Rock.  He thought that was great. He also got clothes and a hoodie, Lego set, dinosaurs. 

Today was also Michelle’s birthday.  So of course got her a card and birthday gift. 

Overall I would consider this celebration a success.  

Newest Grandson Liam

New Parents Trevor and Mellissa. Welcome to our world sweet grandson. LIAM WAYNE 💙💙💙

6 lbs 7 oz 

Born at 1:55 A.M.

On December 19, 2024 at 1:55 AM, our family was blessed with the arrival of Liam Wayne. He weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz. Liam came into the world three weeks early, but healthy and perfect in every way.

His proud parents, Trevor and Mellissa, are soaking in all the newborn snuggles, wow big sister Kyndall is absolutely over the moon to finally meet her baby brother. It warms my heart, knowing she now has her forever best friend to grow up with.

As for me, I am beyond thrilled to welcome sweet lamb into the family. Vienna, Nana from another state isn’t always easy~it means I won’t get to meet him until later in February. That’s the hard part of distance. But even though I can’t hold Jim just yet, my heart is already overflowing with love. I simply can’t wait for those first baby snuggles and kisses when the time comes. 

Little Liam you are already so loved, and we are all excited to watch you grow and shine. 

 

Mexican Casserole

This is one of our favorite meals. Today Mr.C. Was busy babysitting his two grand boys while I was at work. He decided to try making it in the crockpot.  It turned out so very good.  What I am asking myself is why we hadn’t done it in the crockpot before today.  

 

My co~worker Malia gave me skin care products to use.  I had never heard of this brand before today.  Of course I googled them and the prices of each item.  Her soon to be In Laws buys pallets of stuff from Amazon.  They gave her a box of beauty products and she was kind enough to share with me. 

 

I enjoy new beauty products  and can’t wait to try them.  Do you have a favorite beauty line you use regularly?  If so what brand do you recommend?   Lately I am using Jordan Essentials.  I had bought the kit to try to sell the products but found that really wasn’t my cup of tea. I really don’t want to put effort into a side hustle at this point of my life. 

Grocery shopping day

It’s that time of the month.  Road trip to Norman Oklahoma to buy groceries from Crest grocery store. I like the store.  The layout is good and the store is clean and well lighted. 

My budget is $500.00.  Although I do try to stay around $400.00 for this trip. Then that leaves me $100 to pick up items thru the rest of the month.  

We also eat out quite a bit thru the month as well.  

My BFF Cherrie went with me thankfully.  She is a big help at the grocery store.  Usually before we go buy groceries we do shop at other stores.  I am so close to having all Christmas bought.  So today we went to TJ Max, Burlingtons, Michael’s and Target.  

For lunch we tried Bad daddy’s Burgers.  I had the cheeseburger with coleslaw.  It had great flavor and was so good.  We sat at the bar so we could get served at a faster pace.  Unfortunately the wait time for a table was around 25 minutes.  The bartender was quite friendly.  

I almost forgot to take a picture of my food. Just felt like you would want to see my smash burger. 

So many different bottles of alcohol.  So I haven’t been to bars in many years. So had to take this photo just so I can have memories of today. 

On our way home we treat ourselves to Starbucks.  During the holidays our favorite is peppermint mocha latte.  I am grateful for my friendship with Cherrie.
