Weekend fishing

Wearing my cute 4th of July tank top.  It’s lightweight and will help my arms get a little sun.

Am enjoying my new fishing rod Luther bought me!

Fishing at 5:35 am? Check. Mild weather? Check. Extreme heat advisory by 11 am? Uh check. I guess that’s one way to make things interesting. On the bright side, my casting skills are getting less cringy by the day, but still a long way from pro status.
We only seen one large snake swimming by the bank.  I said a little prayer  to keep me protected.  At this point I am use to seeing snakes at Lake Taylor. They tend to leave me alone but you better believe I keep an eye on the sneaky snakes.  Don’t want a snake trying to bite my ankle.

Let’s go fishing!

Why is it I always see a snake or two here at Lake Taylor?  Mr. C. Says there are many snakes out here. Some not poisonous and many that are very dangerous.  Like so many others all snakes are scary to me.  I will not mess with a snake ever.

This was a good spot for me to cast out my line.  If you’ve been following my blog I also have a pink and purple fishing pole.  This is the new pole and reel my sweet husband bought for me.

So glad the wind is moving while we are at the lake.

Mr. C. Caught a large small mouth bass.  He did release it back into the lake. I didn’t have any luck catching a fish today.  Lots of season left to catch the “big” one.  Am looking forward to us being more active outside this summer.
Just remember a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!

Day 2 of Broken Bow part 1

It’s raining this morning. We had plans on going fishing this morning after we have pancakes for breakfast.  Savannah made the breakfast while Me. C. And I snuggled with Lane and Landon.  Couldn’t ask for a better morning.

A perfect view this morning. I came outside to eat and take in the view.  I always enjoy using vacation time to ground myself to nature. Will also do my daily devotional outside while taking in the majestic views of nature.
Was glad everyone came out with me.  We had lots of laughs.
Brody, Lsne and Mr. C.

Savannah,Landon and Brody.  Savannah made the pancakes for everyone.  They were so yummy!

Couldn’t leave myself out of the pictures. Did it even happen if you aren’t in photos?  For many years I refused to take pictures of me.  Then I realized that I am who I am bigger gal and all. Missed out on many great photo opportunities thru the years.

This area is so beautiful.  The trees at home are not this tall.  Definitely was intrigued by the height and how they surround the cabin on 3 sides.  Have seen several deer running around in the area.

Broken Bow lake is huge. I had no ideal how large it was.  We only seen a small part of the lake today.  We were able to find a shoreline to fish from this morning.  We fished for several hours with no luck.

My hubbie getting my fishing pole ready for me to use.  I should insert here that I am not a seasoned fisherman.  He is hoping to teach me so I will be able to put my bait on by self and take off a fish. But most importantly that I learn to cast my pole.

We all agree this probably wasn’t a great place to fish.  We were literally on top of rocks. But I did practice my casting technique.  Will not be earning any awards, did enjoy being out in nature. That was the best part being outside and enjoying life.

Savannah and Lane.  Savannah sure enjoys fishing and doesn’t mind touch the bait.  She throws her line way out there as well.

Landon is going to be our rock hound. Seemed like he picked up a thousand rocks. He needed pockets on his shorts where he could have brought his treasures back to cabin with him. Our grand boys are living their best life.

Gone Fishing

The weather was nice today and so we decided to go fishing at Lake Taylor.  Sometimes I forget to stop and listen to the sounds that nature sings for us.  I actually closed my eyes and listened to the different sounds for about 5 minutes. It was nice to hear the different birds chirping, the frogs croaking and the bugs buzzing around.

Oh my goodness I swear a snake was testing me.  It kept swimming in the water in front of me.  I’m terrified of snakes.  I told Mr. C. that the snake was waiting till I wasn’t paying attention so he could crawl up my leg.  That got a good chuckle out of him.  In fact he told me not to be so dramatic.

Getting back to Nature (fishing day)

Sitting in my chair watching my pole. The wind is slightly blowing and the temperature is perfect on this beautiful Sunday.

It is really peaceful today not many people at our local lake.  Lake Taylor is only a few miles from us. Watching the small waves has been good to my soul.  Watching the birds, bugs and snakes was interesting as well.

My tackle box is the best!  I so need to go find some more pretty tackle.  I would prefer to have all pink and purple tackle but that just isn't possible.  I can tell my hubbie  has been helping himself to some of my items. Which I don't mind as I do not go fishing very often.  Not sure my annual fishing license is being used as much as it should.  I really thought we would go together more often.
Today was a perfect day for us.  Sometimes just getting back to nature is exactly what one needs.  I know I certainly stay inside way too much.  Where as Luther enjoys being outside a lot.

Fishing time!!

Time to go fishing!!  We cleaned our fishing pools and cleaned out our tackle boxes.  I have a pink and purple tackle box.  Most of my fishing tackle is pink and purple.  My rod is pink and purple as well.

I have had this tackle box for probably 13 years if not longer.  Mr. C. bought it for me from Bass Pro Shop in Oklahoma City.  I have bought a lot of tackle from several places but mostly at Bass Pro shop.  I normally bought when it was on sale or clearance.

Most of my used items we put in Mr. C's tackle box.  I want mine to look beautiful. .lol
I need to start buying some more cute tackle for my box.  I haven't looked for fishing stuff in several years.  I know there is probably some new and improved items that I must get for my next fishing trip.

One of our main problems is finding a private lake around and getting permission to fish it.  I need to buy our fishing licensees and lake permits.  Then we should be good to go.  I also will need to buy us a couple of new outdoor chairs.

Have you been fishing?  I find that it is peaceful and I like being so near nature.
