Sunday FundayShopping Adventures

Sunday was truly a Funday! My best friend Cherrie and I decided to take a little day trip to Norman, Oklahoma. We both had a list of things to do — a mix of Christmas shopping and grocery shopping — but more than anything, it was about spending the day together, laughing, catching up, and enjoying each other’s

We left around 9:30 in the morning, coffee in hand, ready for a full day. Our first stop was Ross, where I picked up a couple of toys for Lane and Landon’s “boo baskets.” It’s hard to believe we’re already in that time of year where we start thinking about Halloween and Christmas at the same time. Ross had some cute finds, and it’s always fun to browse the aisles to see what hidden treasures you can come across.

Next, we stopped by Burlington to see what they had out for the holiday season. I love walking through and seeing all the shelves filled with gift ideas and festive decor — it always gets me in the Christmas spirit. Even though I didn’t buy a lot there, it gave me some ideas for the gifts I still need to find.

From there, we headed to the Warren Theater to pick up a $50 gift card for Lane and Landon for Christmas. I love giving gift cards to places where they can make memories — movies are always a fun experience! Then, we made a stop at Chuck E. Cheese. I got two more $50 gift cards for Lane and Landon and four $25 cards for Michelle’s children — Wesley, Angel, Clifford, and Max. I’m officially one step closer to finishing my Christmas shopping list!

We also took a little time to wander through HomeGoods, one of my favorite stores for inspiration. Even though I thought their prices were a little higher than other places, I still enjoyed seeing how everything was displayed. The holiday decor there is always beautiful — they make every corner feel like a cozy Christmas dream.

We had lunch at Olive Garden. It was good as always. I picked out my favorite dish Chicken Alfredo with broccoli. Our server was polite and checked in with us many times.

After all that shopping, it was time to handle the practical side of the day — groceries! We went to Crest, my go-to grocery store. Over the years, I’ve compared prices between Walmart and Crest, and Crest always seems to come out ahead. Their prices fit my budget better, and I feel like I get more for my money. My grocery budget this month was $400, and I spent every dollar of it. I always feel good when I stick to my budget and get everything we need.

By the time we finished shopping, we were both ready for a drink and a snack. On the way home, we stopped at Sonic for our favorite drinks — a Diet Coke with cherry and vanilla. It’s our little road trip tradition! Once we got back to Chickasha, we picked up dinner at McDonald’s before heading home.

It took a while to unload all the groceries once we got back, and by the time Cherrie headed home, it was around 6:00 PM. It was definitely a full day, but such a good one. Spending time with Cherrie always reminds me how important it is to have those special friendships that make even ordinary errands fun. We laughed, talked, and made a day of it.

I feel so blessed to have a friend like Cherrie — someone who makes any day brighter and who’s always up for an adventure. Whether it’s Christmas shopping, grocery runs, or just sharing a Diet Coke on the drive home, time spent with her is always a gift.

Sunday Funday

This mural is super cute found in Norman, Oklahoma. In fact we actually turned around so I could take a picture with this mural. I have been on a mission to find murals near to me. We seen many murals that we are going to take pictures of in the future.

Barnes  and Noble Bookstore
Going in to this bookstore is like being embraced by a familiar friend. So many books to choose to buy. I want so many of the new releases on a limited budget.

Who likes a little spice in their books? You better believe I do! I remember years ago my Grandma Pearl said “I don’t need to read an instruction manual on sex.”  She definitely would blush as these spicy books that I have been reading!

It’s time for Lunch at The Sweet Basil Thai Restaurant. Oh my gosh I really enjoyed the food. I will be going back to try different dishes. Do you enjoy trying different foods?

The decor was cute, exactly how I would have wanted the restaurant to look like in real life.

Cherrie had sweet and sour stir fry. She went with zero spice.

I had Pineapple fried rice with chicken. Level 4 spice. Somehow I ended up with zero spice level and Cherrie got the spice in her dish.  I had no clue she could not do “heat” in her food.  We’ve been friends well over 30 years and just finding out this info.

Seems like So many restaurants are putting this on their walls. Makes me wonder what the next decor craze will be?  It’s cute and makes for a nice place for pictures.  As many of  you are aware Iam big on pictures. I remember a season in my life I did not take any pictures of myself because of low esteem.  With doing our Sunday Fundays I need pictures even of me!
After eating we went to Ollie’s for a few things. Found more scrapbook supplies. I spent about $50.00 on supplies.  I do plan on doing a scrapbook haul post soon. I know what I got was well worth the money. I didn’t have many alphabet stickers and bought several packages. Will use them in my journals.
Crest was our last stop. I had my list, then Brody’s small grocery list. Cherrie is getting groceries as well.  Since her list isn’t as much as mine she will grab items on Brody’s list. Am sure she thought she was doing a scavenger hunt.
Overall the day was great. Am always grateful that we are able to get out and have these special days.

Sunday Funday with Cherrie

Our first stop is Bath and Body. They are having their semi annual sale.  Am looking for a few summer scents for myself. Seems as if I have mainly coconut scents. Need to find some others that I will like using.

Went to Bison Witches Bar and Grill.  Enjoyed the creative decor of this establishment. The food prices were really good. The food was great as well. We absolutely will be back to eat here.

Love the painted walls. So bright and colorful. Cherrie is use to me taking her picture on our travels. She does like me to warn her ahead of time,  seems like I will take pictures when she’s eating or at an awkward moment.

When I see creative art makes me wish that I could draw and paint. My artist skills never developed. My grandma Pearl and Aunt Sandra was amazing artist.

I really think we need a personal driver. So we can have adult drinks when we are out and about. Someone that would fit our vibe.

Overall the decor was great and plenty of room for everyone if they got busy. We went on a slower day so we didn’t have to deal with crowds.

This was my lunch and it was great. Broccoli and cheddar soup in bread bowl with salad. It was delicious.

Cherrie is eating a sandwich that looks good as well.

Cherrie won’t eat all her food either.  I really should have tried some of her sandwich.

This is definitely more food than I will eat! Yes! Leftovers are coming home with me.

This is the band area, so very nifty. Love how creative they have went with this bar and grill.

This is outside and a cool photo opportunity as well.

Cherrie enjoying her moment. That is why we do Sunday Fundays.  We laugh till we nearly pee ourselves. Sometimes we must vent about how the week has gone. Nothing like cleansing out our minds so we can start the upcoming week with positivity.

Seen this on the sidewalk as we walked around downtown Norma.

Enjoyed seeing the sculptures.

This chocolate shop was delightful. I may have bought way too much chocolate to take home.

All the desserts looked delicious. Was so hard to make up my mind.

So many choices and my inner fat girl said buy it all. Of course I didn’t but found many chocolates I had to buy. It’s really hard with me trying to lose weight but yet I walk into a dessert store. Like I have no common sense. Chocolate is my Kryptonite. That’s my weakness of all foods.

Would highly recommend my friends to stop by Apple Tree Chocolate when they are in Norman Oklahoma.
